Cultures are created through communication; that is, communication is the means of human interaction through which cultural characteristics are created and shared. Describe, in detail, characteristics that are unique to your identity and culture. Focus on customs, roles, rules, rituals, laws, or other patterns. Also, focus on the impact that culture has on communication within a multicultural workplace.

Read Harvey Case #22, Women in Leadership Positions (pp. 132–141). In this article, the author presents a discussion of the factors that account for a lack of workforce equity for women in the American workforce. Although women have made considerable progress since the women’s movement of the 1960s, they still have a long way to go to achieve parity with males. What are some of the inequities in opportunities for women? What are some of the factors that affect women in today’s workforce?
